Course Summary

While caring for patients is the priority of most independent pediatricians, practices are still businesses and need to be managed as such. Ultimately, that means they need to make money, or at least break even. Financial statements are the core of financial management and learning to understand will improve any practice executive’s skill at managing their practice.

In this course, we will review the accounting equation, which forms the foundation of financial accounting. You will learn about the four main financial statements: the balance sheet, the profit and loss statement (income statement), the statement of retained earnings, and the statement of cash flows. Finally, you will learn to interpret the information conveyed by these financial statements.
